Massimiliano Fuksas
Archi-students has received the enthusiastic support of several architects, including some of the big names in the profession. One of them, Massimiliano Fuksas, paid us the honour of accepting an interview in Milan. A young trainee architect has found the right words to convey his philosophy.
From metamorphosis to the wings of desire
A humanist, an international architect, poet and painter, Massimiliano Fuksas offers us a new experience of architecture, breathing new life into it. Sweeping movements, strong ideas, sculptural solutions that ring true. His architecture conveys the courage of an idealist who fights with all his integrity with his identity and intelligence, like a resistant to academicism and conventionalism but one that nevertheless sees the world through the eyes of a child. His style is extremely precise and rigorous yet imbued with dreams. On the variation of the interstice, it is an architecture that stands out sometimes due to its lightness, sometimes due to the presence of its masses. It plays with light and mystery, allowing different readings by night and by day.

His projects, although often composed of several jointed volumes, are very coherent. Everything that creates alchemy within a building is explored and studied: the material, its aspects, the reflections. The techniques are pushed to their limits.
Massimiliano Fuksas incarnates the democratic principle of the right to express oneself through one’s creations and that, with respect. He does not bow to fashions or policies but explores new ways of resolving architectural questions. He does not believe in architecture as a product of divergences and reactions. « Architecture is a profession of peace and sharing ». His heritage is anchored in emotions, respect and freedom. His philosophy places architecture above all, at the service of others. The architect must be the critical conscience of society.
