Saudi Arabia expands the Grand Mosque in Mecca
Saudi Arabia has started at the biggest extension ever of the most holy place for Muslims, the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The Mosque will have to give place to 2 milion pilgrims.
There will be 400 000 square meters surface added to the Mosque. There will also be more places with shadow and the buildings will be connected to each other with bridges.
There is no knowledge about the cost of this construction or when it will be finished.
The Grand Mosque is the epicenter of the pilgrimages of Muslims to Mecca. The Mosque is build around the Ka'aba, a cubic sanctuary van black stone where believers can make a ritual tour during their visit to Mecca.
