Grimshaw's London Bridge station revamp gets OK
Plans by Grimshaw to overhaul London Bridge station have been given the green light by Southwark Council.
Planners at the council last night passed a resolution to give the work the go-ahead with formal consent due early next year.
Network Rail’s plans to redevelop the station, which sits next to Renzo Piano’s Shard building and is due for completion next spring, include a new platform layout and building the country’s largest concourse. The station will also have two dedicated Thameslink platforms.
New entrances have been designed for Tooley Street and St Thomas Street with initial preparatory works due to begin next year with rebuilding work being carried out in nine phases starting in summer 2013. Completion is due in 2018.
